MY FOLLOW BROTHER KNIGHTS: last month I was once again blessed to hear Bishop Cantu, this time giving Mass at St Vincent de Paul prior to his initiation into the 3rd Degree. Our next big event is our turn contributing to the Habitat for Humanity build the first Saturday of October. Will have all the details at the meeting on the 1st. This year we are fortunate to have the Church’s YARP group join us (thanks Bros. Dennis and Keith). And last, but not least, Recruitment! Bro Kevin Thompson is organizing an extremely comprehensive drive that has the potential to hit that elusive 100 mark; but we need your help. Don’t be shy, talk with that neighbor or friend or co-worker about the Knights and you just might have a couple of recruits. Till our next meeting, Yours in Christ, John Szulta.

*This will be the 7th Year the Knights of Columbus have given the Altar Servers a BBQ lunch for themselves and family. Please, plan on being there for your assistance in making this a great afternoon. If you are going to bring your family I need to know the numbers.
**Living Rosary. Each year, in October the Knights of Columbus throughout the United States sponsors a Living Rosary. This year Council 8306 has been approved to hold the Rosary on Friday 3 Oct at 7:00pm. in OLG Chapel. Please bring your family to this event, it normally only takes less than an hour of your time. See you there!

TEXAS STATE CHARITIES: Brothers I still have a ½ dozen KC Charities pins for sale. They are $20. each and although we have made our goal for this year, this just puts icing on the cake. Wear with pride.
KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS: Bro Dennis Chaput has ordered and is now selling car magnet that states “KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS” He is doing this with the profits to be turned over to the Council Treasurer to support the council charity efforts. They are $5. each and will be on sale at our meetings. Bro Dennis will also be outside of church on Sunday 28 Sept. You are starting to see them in our church parking lots. Do you have yours(?) – After Mass stop by and give Bro Dennis a hand. CHARITY-UNITY-FRATERNITY-PATRIOTISM
‘NEW MEMBER RECRUITMENT STRATEGY” This program was brought to light at the Council Meeting last month and is now being acted upon by Bro Kevin Thompson. This Sunday OLG Sunday Bulletin will out line details for the Gentlemen of OLG to attend a Information session at the OLG Pavilion at 6:30pm Monday 29 September to better understand the Knights of Columbus. It will outline what the Knights stand for, what we do in Helotes. We are taking the SURPRISE out of what we do. In some pass situations a Catholic Gentleman has become a Knight and for some reason after a short period of time he no longer there. - why, maybe he really did not understand what we do, who we help and why we’re there. These meeting are scheduled for the first Monday in Nov, Jan, Feb, Mar May and June. Talk to your friends who have indicated they are interested and also other catholic gentlemen you meet in your daily routine. Each July, Supreme assigns a new Quota for both new members and New Insurance members. This year (July 2008-July 2009) our Quota is 12 new members and 6 new insurance members. To date, we have no new members but we do have 5 of the 6 new insurance members. The Knights of Columbus have one of the BEST insurance companies in the United States and Brother if you read the history of the Knights, that is one thing we’re all about, protecting OUR FAMILY. They also sell Annuity that count as a new insurance..
OUR PRAYERS: Bro Alfredo Negrete, Bro Sam Moreno Jr’ father Sam Moreno, and Bro Rodney Hanson’s wife Sharon all have under gone medical procedures over this period.
