Megan Duren Memorial Scholarship

 

The Megan Duren Scholarship committee will award one $500 scholarship to a graduating senior of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Helotes.  The Scholarship committee would like to recognize a worthy student who has contributed their time and efforts into making a difference in our OLG community through various activities, and has an interest in pursuing further educational opportunities.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for consideration, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

1.        Be a registered OLG parishioner for at least one (1) full year.

2.        Graduating in May/June of the year the scholarship is given.

3.        Planning to attend college or a trade school.

4.        Volunteered for community service with a minimum of 75 hours total during their high school years, with not less than 25 hours within the past calendar year.

 

APPLICATION:

Application may be obtained from the parish office or from the OLG Website.  Applicants must complete the attached application forms and submit it with 2 (two) letters of recommendation written by any 2 (two) OLG staff members or an OLG volunteer coordinator.  Letters should be returned to the applicant in a sealed envelope.  Application and letters of recommendation must be completed and included with the scholarship packet.

AWARDING THE SCHOLARSHIP:

Completed applications will be reviewed and the Megan Duren Memorial Scholarship Committee will make a decision.  The recipient will be notified and an announcement will be made May 27, 2007.  The scholarship money will be given to the OLG youth upon proof of school registration.
