"Safe Environment"

To our friends in faith –  Sandra Archey

I grew up in Our Lady of Guadalupe parish.  After volunteering for years in a variety of roles, I joined the staff in 2003.  One of my duties is the Safe Environment Coordinator for our parish.  Our Lady of Guadalupe supports the Bishop’s Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth.  It is our goal to provide a safe environment for all in our parish.

We participate with the Archdiocese of San Antonio and request Criminal Background Checks for our priests, brothers, staff and volunteers.  We offer Safe Environment Presentations, which include the Archdiocese’s Sexual Misconduct Video, throughout the year for those who volunteer in our parish.  These presentations are for anyone who serves in any capacity here at church.  Volunteers who are 18 and above are required to submit a Criminal Background Check.

We also offer educational programs twice a year to the entire parish on child abuse and prevention.  As educated Christians working together, we can help to keep our children and vulnerable loved ones safe.  You may also visit our parish library which offers materials year round.

I would like to offer a “thank you” to all of our volunteers who are called to serve.  Your willingness to share your time and talents with others is a blessing to our parish.  We appreciate your cooperation as we work to ensure a safe environment for all in our parish.

Your friend in Christ,

Sandra Archey
